Hypnobirthing is a logical, evidence-based and practical way of preparing for labour and birth.
My course will provide you with modern, realistic and full antenatal knowledge, preparing you and your birth partner with all of the information you need to navigate your way through labour, right up to birth and those precious, immediate post-birth moments.
I will teach you pain relief strategies to keep you feeling as comfortable as possible and give you the tools to stay calm, relaxed and in control throughout labour, however your baby is born.
Some hypnobirthing teachers will teach in a very hippy-ish type of way, talking about the moon and burning sage.. there’s nothing wrong with this but my hypnobirthing course isn’t like that and neither am I. I’m a very sceptical person, and my background is in (behavioural) science so I pride myself on teaching in a modern, no fluff way, giving you science and statistics that will help you weigh up your options and determine what’s best for you.

FAQ: Is Hypnobirthing Worth It?
I found hypnobirthing in my first pregnancy when I was trying to find ways to stop being terrified of birth! At the time, I was so scared of hospitals, blood tests, I had a needle phobia and hated the dentist, so naturally I was very anxious and bloody scared, to be honest, of giving birth, even though I was so excited to meet my baby and be a mum!
I started a hypnobirthing course at around 25 weeks of pregnancy and practiced some of the tools every so often. I planned and visualised a water birth, in a midwife led unit. I decided on this option as a) fear of hospitals was still real b)fear of intervention was still real and c) I knew that being in a hospital to begin with increased the likelihood of needing medical input just by being there - something I was desperate to avoid…
I qualified as a hypnobirthing teacher during my second pregnancy. This pregnancy and birth shaped the way I wanted to teach hypnobirthing to the couples I am lucky enough to work with.
I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes at 29 weeks pregnancy, which gave my pregnancy the title ‘high risk’. I had planned a home birth from before I knew I was pregnant so this meant I needed to navigate the maternity system to figure out how I could still make this possible.
I remained diet controlled throughout my pregnancy, met with numerous consultants, midwives and consultant midwives, and using every tool known to hypnobirthing (hypnobirthing teaches you how to weigh up options and make informed decisions as well as how to cope with contractions!) they eventually supported my decision to give birth at home (read how I did this here: Planning a home birth with a high risk pregnancy)
I used hypnobirthing in a totally different way this time around. I learned that Hypnobirthing was so much more than visualising your ideal birth and learning how to breath through contractions…
FAQ: Will Hypnobirthing give me a pain free birth?
My hypnobirthing course will never guarantee any specific type of birth but I can give you a tonne of knowledge, tools and support that will help you have the best birth experience possible.
By turning up, listening to my course or reading a book you’re making a great first step toward building your positive birth story, however to really get the outcomes you want, you have to put the work in and practice everything we work through. By joining my hypnobirthing course you’re giving yourself someone to be accountable to, and a sounding board to reflect on your practice with as you progress through your journey with me. I’ll be available to you, to encourage and keep you on track from the start of the hypnobirthing course up until you deliver your baby.
